School Meals

Our delicious and nutritious school meals are cooked daily on the school premises by our wonderful kitchen staff under the leadership of Head Chef Matt Green.

Each day we provide a choice of hot meals, with our menu changing during the year to reflect the seasons.

The Mayor of London has confirmed that the Universal Free School Meals initiative to support families with the cost of living crisis by offering all Key Stage 2 pupils (in school years 3 to 6, aged 7-11) a daily lunchtime meal free of charge, will be extended for another academic year.  This is in addition to the government’s Universal Infant (aged 4-7) Free School Meal scheme.

We are the only primary school within the London Borough of Merton with an in-house kitchen. This enables us to have full control over the quality of the highly nutritious food provided to children, cooked on site from scratch each day.  In order to be able to maintain our high school meals standards, we would be very grateful for any donations via ParentPay in order to top up the government funding for the Universal Free School Meals. This is income that is highly valued and used to further improve our catering provision.  Our approach is pupil-centred and our aim is to invest in our provision rather than achieve a profit.

For any meal changes, please email the school office at info@bishopgilpin.org.
